CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids school board has a full plate on tonight's agenda.
A public hearing to discuss the 2010-11 school calendars begins at 5 p.m. The School Calendar Committee recommends a modified calendar for Polk and Taylor elementary schools, which historically operate as year-round schools. All other schools will operate on a traditional calendar.
Under this proposal, the first day of the 2010-11 school year will be Aug. 24 for all schools except Polk and Taylor, which would begin July 22.
Also tonight, Dan Thies of OPN Architects will give a presentation on the district's final flood recovery open house.
Options for renovating existing facilities at new sites or building new facilities at new sites were up for public viewing at last week's event.
The damaged Education Service Center, ESC Annex, carpenter/paint shop, main warehouse and food service warehouse are operating from temporary locations.
