DAVENPORT - Connor Goedert and Pat Porter had back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning to pretty much cement Quad Cities' 6-3 win over the Cedar Rapids kernels in Midwest League baseball Thursday night at Modern Woodmen Park. QC won three of the four games in the series.
The Kernels are 40-37 overall, 4-4 in the second half. They play a weekend series at Beloit.
Quad Cities scored four runs in the first two innings against Kernels starting pitcher Eduardo Del Rosario (0-2), who suffered the loss. The Kernels got back within 4-3 with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth that were countered by the back-to-backers in the bottom of the inning.
Both teams had seven hits each. Luis Arraez and Nelson Molina had two hits apiece for the Kernels, with Molina driving in a run.
Luis Arraez (2) of the Kernels leaves home plate on a double during a Midwest League game against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids on Sunday, May 29, 2016. (Cliff Jette/The Gazette)
