Water gushes into a downtown bar and floods the building, again. A maintenance worker discovered Cedar Rapids' Piano Lounge was filling up with water when entered the building Sunday afternoon.
Crews eventually discovered that a water pipe leading into the Piano Lounge had burst. The break sent gallons and gallons of water into the popular downtown bar.
Bartenders and other staff members rushed to help pump the water out. They used about nine shop vacs to try and clean-up the mess. Eventually, the city arrived and shut off the water to building.
You might remember during flood last year, the entire bar ended up submerged. So, the crew had a good idea about how to handle the problem.
On Monday morning, crews are going to have to rip up the street along Second Avenue to get to the water pipe that leads into the bar. That could lead to some traffic problems as cars drive through the area.
The bar expects to reopen by the middle of the week.
In the historic flooding in June of 2008, The Piano Lounge had to pump out 760,000 gallons of water. The bar reopened a little more than a year ago.
