CEDAR RAPIDS - Police said a Cedar Rapids man left his pickup in the middle of the street and walked into a house that wasn't his early Tuesday morning.
And when the real homeowner told him he was going to call the cops, the suspect said, "go ahead."
Christopher A. Goudy, 31, of 271 27th Ave. SW, was charged with second-degree burglary in the case. He was accused of entering the house at 1036 Wiley Blvd. NW, and claiming it was his house, according to court documents.
Police said the Goudy came in through the back door around 1:50 a.m. The homeowner, Gary Jacobi, woke up and confronted Goudy before calling police.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said there were indications that Goudy had been drinking, but he was not charged with any alcohol-related crime. She said Goudy stole a pack of cigarettes that were on a table, and then stuck around.
"He was still standing in the living room when officers got there," Hamblin said.
Goudy told police his friends had dropped him off and also let him in the house. Police had found his pickup in the street and had it towed away. Goudy was taken to the Linn County Jail.
