Dec. 29, 2014 5:28 pm
DES MOINES - Surgery performed Monday on Gov. Terry Branstad to treat varicose veins in his legs went 'as planned,” the governor's spokesman said.
Branstad underwent the 'routine” outpatient procedure Monday. Expected recovery time is one week, during which he will reduce the amount of time spent on his feet, his office said.
Because of the surgery, Branstad has no public events scheduled this week. Branstad's office said he will be available for business calls and meetings as needed and will return to his regular schedule next Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Branstad is scheduled to give his annual Condition of the State address to the Iowa Legislature on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
