Boy in serious condition after Jones County barn collapse

UPDATE: Cody Ehresman remains in serious condition at a local hospital Sunday evening after a barn collapsed on him.

Ehresman, 12, was injured Sunday in the incident at a Jones County farm at 18954 25th Street.

Ehresman and his service group were tearing down the building as part of a community service project. The group spent the day knocking down a series of older buildings on the farm.

When they pulled down the building, it fell on the youth group leader and the boy. The leader escaped right away, but the beams pinned the boy down. Others had to lift the material up to let the boy crawl out.

People who were there at the time say the boy was alert and conscious and moving his arms and legs. But he was airlifted to the hospital because of concerns about internal injuries.
