An 18-year-old student at Benton Community High School lost some blood but is going to be OK after partially falling through a glass window at the school this morning, officials said.
Superintendent Gary Zittergruen said the senior boy was getting a piggy-back ride from another senior boy in the student center when they lost their balance and the student fell back through a window near the entrance for the auditorium.
Zittergruen said the boy had cuts on both arms. He was conscious when an ambulance took him away to a hospital in Cedar Rapids.
The boy's name was not released.
Zittergruen said the two boys are best friends and the incident was an accident.
“Fortunately, the frame caught him so he didn't go all the way through,” Zittergruen said. “But we're very concerned about the young man's well-being.”
