Bomb threat prompts evacuation at Cedar Rapids plant

Employees at H.J. Heinz in Cedar Rapids evacuated late Thursday morning after a bomb threat.
Police Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said someone made a threat shortly before 11 a.m. during a phone call to the plant, 4600 C St. SW. Workers evacuated and a search was conducted with plant management, she said.
H.J. Heinz spokeswoman Jessica Jackson confirmed nothing was found during the search. She said operations were down less than two hours and shifts were not impacted.
Police officers appeared to be taking a close look at a car in the parking lot. The car was later towed away, with a police vehicle following it.
Operations appeared to be returning to normal at 1:30 p.m.
