Investigators have identified the body found Monday in the Mississippi River near Dubuque. The State Medical Examiner's office said he was 39-year-old Gregor Wardle of Dubuque.
The Dubuque County Sheriff said Wardle disappeared in April 2009. At that time, someone reported seeing a man jump off the Julien Dubuque Bridge.
Investigators later found his car near the bridge. In July 2009, a court ruled him officially deceased.
Dubuque County deputies were called to an area where the Catfish Creek meets the Mississippi River around 11:15 a.m. Monday. A barge worker had reported seeing a body in the water.
A body was found today in this area, near the Massey Marina in Dubuque. (The Gazette)
