A man was found dead Tuesday morning in downtown Cedar Rapids after an apparent suicide, police said.
Police were called around 4:30 a.m. to a parking lot in the 200 block of Fifth Avenue SE when a private snow plow driver discovered the body while he was sanding the lot.
Lt. Dominic Wibe said it appeared the man jumped off the parking ramp. No foul play is suspected, he said.
“There's evidence on top that he climbed up the wall… (and) the injuries were consistent with a fall from that distance,” Wibe said.
Investigators found an ID in the man's wallet and their next task was to confirm his identity, Wibe said.
Police said the body would be taken to St. Luke's Hospital, where an autopsy would be conducted.
