Blairs Ferry crash sends 3 to hospital

CEDAR RAPIDS - A car's rear-end collision with an SUV sent three people to the hospital Thursday evening.
Two men suffered minor head injuries and a shaken-up young woman transported herself to Mercy Hospital after a gray Nissan Altima carrying the men struck a blue Dodge Durango on Blairs Ferry Road near Ushers Ferry Road
Police said the driver of the Altima did not stop as the Durango ahead slowed to make a left turn unto Ushers Ferry. The Altima struck the Durango, sending the SUV head-on into a tree.
Police cited the Altima's driver for failure to retain control and failure to stop at a safe and short distance.
Police at the scene did not release the names of the victims.
