Barbeque, there's no doubt the meat, beans and slaw is good annual Cedar rapids BBQ Roundup.
“I love the barbeque, love the ribs, everything is real good here,” said Mat Lellit, 30, Cedar Rapids.
But what is up for question is how much that taste of southern heaven will cost you.
“You know, yeah, it is kinda pricey,” said Nick Jenkins, 22, Iowa City.
A sandwich runs $6 to 8, and a full slab or ribs can be $22 to 25.
“I like ribs, but I'm not going to pay $25 to eat ribs, so I got a sandwich, it's good enough for me,” said Monica Hamilton, Marion, 24.
In fact, most of the crowd here said the costs weren't eye-popping, or even shocking. Although, one couple said paying $3 for sweet corn, in Iowa, just seems out of place.
“You spend a little more, but its worth it,” said Lellit, on his third day at the event.
Yet, we had lots of commenters on www.kcrg.com complaining about the costs.
“But ribs are expensive. If you try to go to any restaurant to get a rack of ribs, they're not that much more expensive here than at a restaurant,” said organizer Scott Schoenike.
Schoenike said plenty of people came out for the event. He said Friday night's attendance almost set a record.
