Barn catches fire in Solon; no one hurt

Fire crews took around 30 minutes to extinguish a barn fire in Solon Tuesday.
Solon Fire Department was dispatched to 5390 160th Street NE around 11:15 a.m. for a report of a barn fire. Upon arrival, fire crew saw half of the barn was engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished and contained to the barn.
Solon Assistant Fire Chief Scott Wolfe said a resident of the house was home when the fire started. He said the man noticed smoke coming from a wood-burning furnace pipe in the barn. The man attempted to extinguish the fire himself, but he could not contain the blaze.
Wolfe said the cause of the fire and damages were still under investigation.
