Fresh out of jail after a fight outside a bar early Saturday morning, a Cedar Rapids man found himself back in jail for a second bar fight within 24 hours.
Wallace D. Cooper, 33, of Cedar Rapids, was charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication after the two incidents. He has since been released from jail.
According to Cedar Rapids police, Cooper was among several people who were yelling at each other outside of Dublin City Pub, 415 First St. SE, when they responded around 1:40 a.m. Saturday. Officers made a public intoxication arrest, and were ordering others to leave when Cooper allegedly confronted another man and shoved him down.
Cooper was taken to the Linn County Jail on a disorderly conduct charge. Police said the man who was pushed did not want to file assault charges.
Almost exactly 24 hours later, around 1:20 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a fight at Green Gable Inn, 1227 J Ave. NE. Cooper was out of jail and trying to start fights with bar patrons, police said.
Cooper smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet, according to the police report. He was taken back to the Linn County Jail, where he was released later on Sunday.
