Authorities investigate Marion vehicle fire

MARION - A family slept as their minivan was fully engulfed in flames in their driveway early Tuesday morning.

According to a news release, a passerby noticed flames in the driveway of the Kirk Schobert family home, 1005 Seventh St., at 5:14 a.m.

The Marion Fire Department battled the flames, which consumed the van and slightly damaged the north siding of the home, according to the report.

No one was injured, and an estimated cost of damage is unknown. The van was considered a total loss.

Fire fighters said the cause of the fire is under investigation, but additional information will be released as it unfolds.
