CEDAR RAPIDS - The first-degree murder trial for a man accused of killing a cabdriver last year has been rescheduled to Aug. 14 in Story County District Court.
Johnathan Mitchell, 33, was granted a change of venue last year and the trial was set for March, but attorneys told a judge that witnesses were still being deposed and all the discovery wasn't completed.
Mitchell is accused of fatally stabbing Cathy Stickley, 54, of Cedar Rapids, next to her car in the 1500 block alley between Second and Third avenues SE last April 29.
Mitchell was granted the change of venue based on pretrial publicity involving his criminal history and a previous willful injury charge, set for trial Feb. 13 in Linn County District Court.
He remains under a $1 million bond in the Linn County Jail.
