An attempted assault was reported to the University of Iowa Police Tuesday night.
According to a University of Iowa Police media release, the reporting victim told police he or she arrived via Cambus at the Hawkeye Storage/Commuter Lot between 9 and 9:30 p.m. to pick up a car. The victim said two males got off the bus at the same stop at the same time, and as they got off the bus the victim was struck from behind. In the confusion that followed, the victim told UI police that there may have been just one attacker, and that one of the males might have broken up the attack.
After the brief assault, the suspect or suspects ran away, according to the release. The victim told police that he or she then got in the car and drove away, and later reported the incident to police shortly after 10:30 p.m.
