An apparent tie for one of the at-large seats on the Marion Independent school board may have to be resolved by drawing a name out of a hat, according to the Linn County Auditor's Office.
Incumbent Bill Huntoon, 68, of 1325 C Ave., Marion, and Shelly Pearson, 39, of 2355 11th Ave., Marion, each garnered 142 votes, according to unofficial results. If the totals don't change after Friday's canvass, the county supervisors will draw the winner's name from a hat, the auditor's office said.
Elected to at-large terms in the Marion district were incumbent Diana Bys, 48, of 1100 English Blvd., Marion; and Alan Tribble, 48, of 1805 Agate Circle, Marion. Jim Conklin, 48, of 2798 12th Ave., Marion, lost his bid for a seat on the board.
