PARKERSBURG -- An ambulance carrying a person who had been sprayed by a crop duster aircraft was sprayed with more chemicals on its way to the hospital.
Grundy County Sheriff Rick Penning says the ambulance was dispatched shortly after noon Tuesday to a church in Parkersburg to help a person who was sprayed while cutting weeds or mowing a lawn.
The sheriff says the ambulance was then sprayed en route to a Cedar Falls hospital.
Battalion Chief John Bostwick with Cedar Falls Fire Rescue says the ambulance and all of its occupants, including three paramedics, had to be decontaminated before entering the hospital, which took an hour and a half.
Descriptions of the aircraft and chemicals were not released. It was at least the third report of people sprayed by crop dusting aircraft in the area during the past three weeks.
