After some early morning flight cancellations, The Eastern Iowa Airport is returning to normal after Wednesday's snowstorm.
Pam Hinman, airport marketing director, said all arriving and departing flights are running on time. She said the early morning departures were canceled because aircraft that normally would have arrived Wednesday night were not available.
“We started to see normal departures around 8 a.m. after aircraft began arriving,” Hinman said. “The airport remained open, but the airlines made the decision to cancel flights due to the weather.”
Hinmann said passengers who were not able to travel Tuesday night or Wednesday were trying to book new flights Thursday, increasing the number of people using the airport. She said passengers arriving over the next couple of days may find their luggage will arrive on another aircraft.
“We expect the next couple of days will be busy with travelers and the airlines dealing with luggage issues,” Hinman said.
