An Iowa City man was arrested last month in connection to multiple charges after allegedly assaulting another man while engaging in sexual relations with him.
According to criminal complaints, Andrew J. Staudt, 27, of 3 Expo Dr., left a bar with the alleged victim and went back to the victim's residence on Sunset Street the morning of Oct. 17.
Police said the two men were engaged in sexual relations when Staudt began assaulting the other man. Staudt allegedly choked the other man and told him that he was going to kill him.
The victim was eventually able to wrestle Staudt out of the apartment, but Staudt allegedly proceeded to kick the victim's door down, breaking the trim. Police said Staudt then passed out on the victim's couch until friends of the victim were able to push Staudt out of the apartment.
Police said Staudt continued to try to enter the residence until officers arrived on the scene.
Staudt was arrested Tuesday and charged with assault causing bodily injury, fourth-degree criminal mischief and trespassing. All charges are serious misdemeanors, which carry a maximum sentence of one year in prison and a $1,500 fine.
