The trial for University of Iowa football player Adrian Clayborn has been moved.
Starting defensive end Clayborn, 21, of Iowa City, is charged with assault causing bodily injury for a Jan. 18 incident.
His attorney, Matthew Petrzelka, from Cedar Rapids, filled for continuance Tuesday for the pretrial conference originally set for Jan. 6 and trial for Jan. 19.
The pretrial conference is now set for Feb 17 and trial is set for March 1.
According to a criminal complaint, Clayborn punched the driver of a cab who honked at him during a traffic jam at South Johnson and Bowery streets at 1:58 a.m. Jan. 18. Clayborn got out of his vehicle, reached in the driver's side window and struck the victim in the face, causing minor injuries, according to the complaint. A friend had to restrain Clayborn and pull him back to their vehicle, the complaint states.
Assault causing bodily injury is a serious misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in prison and a $1,875 fine.
Clayborn has pleaded not guilty.
