A.J. Murray of C.R. Kernels receives honors from Midwest League, Minnesota Twins
CEDAR RAPIDS — Catcher A.J. Murray of the Cedar Rapids Kernels has been named Midwest League Player of the Week and Minnesota Twins Minor League Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.
Murray hit .520 (13 for 25) with four doubles, a triple, two home runs and nine RBIs in six games. He scored seven runs, walked three times and had a .567 slugging percentage.
Murray was a 14th-round draft pick of the Twins last year out of Georgia Tech.
Cedar Rapids begins a week-long homestand Tuesday night against Beloit.
