81-year-old charged with shoplifting

CEDAR RAPIDS - Police said they cited an 81-year-old man after he shoplifted in Cedar Rapids.

James L. Stepanek, of Cedar Rapids, is accused of taking sausage and a key chain Friday from the Theisen's store at 3111 16th Ave. SW.

Police were called at 11:40 a.m. and cited Stepanek at the store. Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said the value of the stolen items was $8.

Stepanek was allowed to sign a promise to appear in court and released.
