Wondering what's been happening with the 747 landing at The Eastern Iowa Airport today? Don't worry -- it's just a drill.
The plane, from the Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha, Neb., was doing "touch-and-go" practice landings at the airport, according to the airport's Twitter feed.
The airport has been receiving "lots of calls" wondering what's happening, according to their Twitter updates.
The plane is actually an E-4B, according to airport marketing and communications manager Pam Hinman. "The E-4B serves as the National Airborne Operations Center for the president and secretary of defense. In case of national emergency or destruction of ground command control centers, the aircraft provides a highly survivable, command, control and communications center to direct U.S. forces, execute emergency war orders and coordinate actions by civil authorities."
