CEDAR RAPIDS - Approximately 52,000 assessment notices are being sent out Monday by the Cedar Rapids Assessor's Office advising owners of residential, commercial, industrial, multi-residential and agricultural properties of changes in assessed value.
The assessments are the basis for property taxes payable July through September 2018 - first half taxes - and January through March 2019 - second half taxes, according to the city Assessor's Office. The new assessments were effective Jan. 1. Properties that did not see a change in value from 2016 to 2017 will not receive a notice.
The notices include the gross assessment and include qualifying exemptions and abatements computed by the Assessor's Office, but do not include the state designated rollbacks, homestead, military and business property tax credits or exemptions, according to a statement from Cedar Rapids officials. Those are calculated and applied by the Linn County Auditor's Office.
More information is available on the Assessor's Office website at cedarrapids.iowaassessors.com.
