Jeff Wolf of Iowa City has stepped forward to claim the $2 million Powerball prize won last July. The ticket was purchased at the Hawkeye Convenience Store, 2330 Wiley Blvd. SW in Cedar Rapids.
Wolf said that he knew he had the winning ticket shortly after the drawing but held back on claiming the prize while working through estate issues following the death of his parents.
Wolf claimed his prize this morning at the Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive.
'I'm going to invest it,” Wolf said.
Wolf said he owns two mobile home parks in the Iowa City area, but purchased the ticket in Cedar Rapids at a convenience store close to a supply store where he buys truck parts.
Wolf said he told only his sister about his big win and put the ticket away in a safe place. But after realizing that time was passing by, he decided to claim the prize today.
'I've got to do it someday - just need to get it done,” he said.
The winning numbers in the July 16 Powerball drawing were: 11-17-40-50-62 and Powerball 26. The Power Play number was 2. No one matched all six numbers to win that night's $335.5 million jackpot.
