CEDAR RAPIDS - An 18-year-old Cedar Rapids man was charged Tuesday with robbing a woman, who was getting into a car on E Avenue NE, after a short foot chase Monday.
Thomas Dangelo Vesey was charged with second-degree robbery and interference with official acts. He is accused of pressing a gun to a woman's chest and demanding money after she got into a car in the 1600 block of E Avenue NE. Vesey ran from the car after others in the car started honking the horn, the complaint states.
Vesey ran from the scene, but officers caught up with him nearby, according to the complaint. Officers found Vesey with a BB handgun. There are no details about recovering any money.
Vesey was out on bail when he was arrested Monday. He had pleaded guilty earlier this month in another robbery.
Vesey and another man stole cash, a wallet and a cellphone Feb. 17 from a man on Fourth Avenue SE, according to court records. Vesey pleaded guilty April 14 to first-degree theft and faces 10 years in prison. Sentencing is set for June 7.
