A 17-year-old Cedar Rapids resident was injured Thursday after a rollover accident on Dows Road.
According to a media release from the Linn County Sheriff's Office, at 1:14 p.m. Linn County Deputies and other emergency responders were called to the scene of a single vehicle injury accident at 587 Dows Rd. SE.
According to the release, emergency personnel arrived on scene to find that a 2003 Hyundai Accent was in the east ditch. The driver, Laurynn Porazil, 17, was transported to Mercy Hospital by Area Ambulance with 'what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries” according to the release. A passenger in the vehicle, Aubrey Moore, 17, of Cedar Rapids, was uninjured.
Both Porazil and Moore were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, according to the release.
After investigating the incident, police say that Porazil had been traveling southbound on Dows Road when she lost control of her vehicle after avoiding another vehicle in traffic, which then led to her vehicle rolling into the east ditch.
Linn County Sheriff's Rescue and the Bertram Fire Department also responded to the scene, according to the release.
