15-year-old girl killed in Waterloo shooting

WATERLOO - A 15-year-old girl died Friday night of a gunshot wound.

According to the Waterloo Police Department media release, at 6:02 p.m. on Friday night, officers with the Waterloo Police Department were dispatched to the 900 block of Broadway St. for a report of a person who had been shot at that addresss. On arrival, the officers transported the shooting victim, later determined to be a 15-year-old girl, to Allen Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead from her injuries.

Further investigation by officers, after they had cordoned off the scene of the shooting, indicated that the girl received the injuries inside the residence on Broadway Street. Police indicated in the press release that they don't believe that there is any other danger to the public at this time.

This incident remains under investigation. Police have not indicated that any arrests have been made, yet, in connection to the shooting.
