Passengers on Delta Air Lines face cancellations and likely delays Monday a day after a systems outage severely disrupted the carrier's network.
Early Monday, the airline said in a statement that roughly 80 flights have been canceled and there are additional cancellations possible. Travelers are advised to check with the airline for flight delay and cancellation details.
In the statement, Delta's chief executive apologized, calling it a 'frustrating situation.”
'This type of disruption is not acceptable to the Delta family, which prides itself on reliability and customer service,” said Ed Bastian, Delta's chief executive. 'I also want to thank our employees who are working tirelessly to accommodate our travelers.”
The problem started around 6:30 p.m. Sunday when the airlines 'essential IT systems” went down, officials said. It was restored a few hours later and all systems were 'back to normal shortly after midnight Monday,” Delta officials said.
