The December CR Songwriters Series will feature a Corridor singer-songwriter.
Jordan Sellergren, of Iowa City, will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at Breathing Room Yoga in Cedar Rapids.
Songs are at the heart of musical performances, but the intricacy and nuance of songs can often get lost in the hustle and bustle of clubs and bars. The series aims to create an environment where the songs are front and center and provide a path of connection between performer and audience.

Sellergren was born on the bluffs of the Mississippi and is the owner and publisher of Little Village. Her most recent album, “Banner Year,” was funded by a grant from the Iowa Arts Council and released in April 2025. It explores the subtle horrors of modern capitalism and the healthcare system, creative process, fantastical adventures, parenting and love.
Wes Shirley of the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City band The Poor Poor Rich created the CR Songwriter Series as a way of showcasing the diverse songwriting talent that exists throughout Eastern Iowa and beyond. The goal is to give songwriters and audiences a chance to connect in intimate venues where songs are at the core of that connection.
Breathing Room Yoga was started by Sarah Cram Driscoll and just celebrated its 10th anniversary. It has become a pillar not just of the yoga community of Cedar Rapids, but as a community gathering spot, hosting a wide variety of events throughout the year.
