2024 All-State Music Festival

Iowa’s top high school musicians from across the state to perform Saturday in Ames

Iowa’s talented high school musicians have been busy this week rehearsing for the 78th annual All-State Music Festival where select students in band choir and orchestra have come together in Ames from across the state to practice and perform.

District auditions for the 276-piece All-State Band, 214-piece All-State Orchestra, and 601-member All-State Chorus were held Oct. 26, 2024, at Le Mars, Hampton, Independence, Atlantic, Indianola, and Washington. About 17 percent of the students who auditioned were selected for membership in the All-State ensembles.

The students held their first rehearsal on Friday and will hold a second one on Saturday before performing the festival concert for the public at 7:30 p.m. at Iowa State University’s Hilton Coliseum. Tickets are $30 and available at www.ticketmaster.com.

Iowa PBS will record the concert for rebroadcast. Check the Iowa PBS website (www.iowapbs.org) for the exact dates and times.
