HS softball: Stormin’ Pointers use speed to upset No. 3 Mustangs in Mount Vernon
Mount Vernon has been a tough out for ranked teams in recent seasons. This time, the Mustangs finished out an upset, beating No. 3 Marion, 6-2, in a Class 3A Substate 5 semifinal Monday night at Marion.
Cedar Rapids Kennedy will look to return to the substate final. Marion and Mount Vernon face off in a battle of Wamac Conference programs. Benton Community looks to continue banner season against Oskaloosa. Here are five Class 4A and 3A substate semifinals to watch.
