Junior guard Maddox Kelley had 24 points and 11 rebounds as the Class 3A No. 6 Solon boys basketball team beat rival Mount Vernon, 64-50, Friday night at Mount Vernon. Kelley came in averaging about six points per game.
Monday’s output upped Jacobi’s season average to 24.0 points per game. She is averaging 13.8 rebounds per contest and has posted double-doubles every game this season.

Philip Jacobs wants to be his best but he is also focused on Linn-Mar’s team success. He’s willing to do whatever helps the team, moving up to 190 pounds. Jacobs went 5-0 and host Linn-Mar claimed the team title Saturday at the Lions Duals.
Taylor Franck has returned to the Mustangs after a seven-game absence (leg injury). She hasn’t exactly limped back.
West Delaware’s Liam Weber has had a successful start to his junior campaign. He has thrived by focusing on daily improvement and trying to be his best. Weber is 15-0 and ranked No. 2 at 157 pounds in Class 2A; Anamosa duo wins titles at Osage; Mount Vernon tops Lisbon for dual title.
Regals won their 2A substate final Saturday night at Muscatine, 51-37, over Northeast Goose Lake.
