Vacation update: three goals, three fights

Feb. 13, 2010 10:38 pm
Went to the Phoenix Coyotes-Dallas Stars game Saturday night. The arena is really beautiful, and there was an actual crowd there. The Coyotes' owner declared bankruptcy early this season and there had been talk of moving the franchise to Hamilton, Ontario. A new ownership group has pledged to keep the team in Arizona.
Anyway, Dallas won the game, 3-0. Marty Turco was awesome in goal with 40 saves.
The Stars' goal scorers were immortals Toby Petersen, Brandon Segal and rookie Jamie Benn. The Coyotes' Petr Prucha was injured badly in the first period on a borderline check by Dallas' James Neal. Prucha's head smacked into the glass and he lay motionless for over five minutes before being taken off the ice on a stretcher.
Here's a couple pictures and video of an ensuing fight between Neal and Martin Hanzal, Prucha's Czech mate, pardon the pun. Any RoughRiders fans who happen to be in Arizona during hockey season, you should check out a game. Arena is highly recommended.
And the NHL rules!
The area around Jobing.com Arena and University of Phoenix Stadium (home of the NFL's Arizona Cardinals) is full of new restaurants, bars, theatres and a humongous Cabella's. Sounds like the area around Kingston Stadium, Memorial Stadium and the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena, right?
Petr Prucha of the Phoenix Coyotes is about to be strapped to a stretcher after being injured Saturday night.
