Ty Kelly joins Kernels

The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that right-handed pitcher Ty Kelley will join the Kernels from the Tempe Angels of the Arizona League. Abe Flores, Director of Player Development for the LA Angels, announced the move today.
The Angels signed Kelley, 22, as a non-drafted free agent on June 21, 2010 out of Auburn University. He spent last season with the AZL Angels, posting a 1-1 record and 14.29 ERA in six relief appearances, allowing nine runs on nine hits, walking three and striking out nine over 5.2 IP. In three games with the AZL Angels this season, he has a 1-0 record and 7.36 ERA, giving up three runs on eight hits over 3.2 IP.
Kelley is active and available for tonight's 6:35 pm game with the Quad Cities River Bandits. With today's transactions, the Kernels active roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with two players currently on the disabled list.
