Timber Rattlers strike back at Kernels, 5-2

Appleton, WI – The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers broke open a 2-2 tied game in the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo HR by Peter Fatse and never looked back in a 5-2 win over the Cedar Rapids Kernels on Wednesday afternoon in Appleton. Fatse also drove in two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth with a triple and finished the game 3-4 with 3 RBI.
The Kernels were held to just five hits by Wisconsin pitchers as Mike Trout extended his hitting streak to 11 games, going 2-4 with a stolen base. Luis Jimenez continues to swing a hot bat, driving in two runs on a single in the first and has 8 RBI in his last five games.
Kernels starter Orangel Arenas (0-3) took the loss, allowing three runs on five hits over 5.2 IP. Wisconsin reliever Efrain Nieves (1-2) held the Kernels to two hits over four innings and Chad Robinson worked around three walks in the ninth for his first save.

After a three game series at Burlington, the Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium and open a seven game home stand on Tuesday, April 27 with games against Clinton and Kane County.
