On May 2, 1963, Bob Hendley (Cedar Rapids Braves - 1958) pitched a complete-game three hit shutout as the Milwaukee Braves defeated the Cincinnati Reds 8-0. Hendley struck out eight batter while only walking one. He also went 2-4 from the plate to help the cause.
Bob Hendley finished his 7 year MLB career with a 48-52 record and a 3.97 ERA while playing for the Braves, Giants, Cubs and Mets.
Bob Hendley was part of the 1958 Three I League Championship team which finished with a 77-53 record under manager Alex Monchak. Hendley finished the season with a 14-5 record, a 2.81 ERA and 142 strikeouts in 157 innings of work.
