Freddie Benavides was a member of the 1987 and 1988 Cedar Rapids Reds teams. The team finished 1987 with a 70-70 mark. In 1988, Cedar Rapids finished the regular season with a 87-53 record before defeating Springfield and Kenosha en route to the Midwest League Championship. Benavides hit .133 in five games in 1987 before returning in 1988 to hit .223 with 1 HR in 88 games for Cedar Rapids.
