Stop the game and shoot off your fireworks!!

Jul. 9, 2010 4:25 pm
Was given a copy of an e-mail from an angry minor league baseball fan from an anonymous Triple-A town. Apparently this family made the trip to the ballpark for a July 4th fireworks display, but the game went long and the family had to leave before the fireworks were shot off.
And they were not happy about it. This is just kind of an unbelievable letter.
I have taken out the references to the team and the city. What do you think? Maybe the Cedar Rapids Kernels should keep this in mind (lol).
Dear Mr. (Name of team's general manager):
Imagine the disappointment of a 7 yr. old and a 3 yr. old when their parents finally had to leave the July 4, 2010 game at 10:15 p.m. because no one in the organization had the ability to make a key decision. Clearly hundreds, if not thousands of spectators inside and outside of the arena were waiting for the promised FIREWORK DISPLAY and all that had to be done was to simply call an intermission to the game and start the SCHEDULED FIREWORKS SHOW. This would have allowed all paying customers, plus the on-lookers outside of the park with young children to see what they came for, go home and put their children to bed, while the die-hard baseball fans stick around and watch the end of the game.
My husband, son and I traveled from (name of hometown) to (town where game was) to stay with a friend and to go to the game with the promise of FIREWORKS (the local newspaper stated the start time was between 9:30-9:45 ...), our friend paid in advance for our tickets because she knew it would be sold out. We even planned to attend the game a little late as to not wear out the kids early on and allow them to stay up long enough to watch the FIREWORKS. In the car on the way home my 7 yr. old son was so upset about not seeing the fireworks he began crying and although he was completely exhausted, he still wanted to stay and wait for the show; we also had a 3 yr. old who was by now, sound asleep on her mother's shoulder.
This is the first time in my entire life that I have not seen a FIREWORKS display on the 4
th
of July! I was extremely disappointed about the whole event, maybe even more so than my son, because I know how much he wanted to see that show.
I am enclosing our ticket stubs from the event and asking that you kindly reimburse us the $27.00 we paid for the July 4 but instead what turned out to be a very disappointing HOLIDAY evening.
th
combination and All-American event of baseball and fireworks,
Sincerely,
XXX
