RoughRiders trade Olsson to Tri-City

Sep. 11, 2013 2:52 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders still have some roster decisions to make before opening night, though one was made Wednesday.
Forward Ross Olsson has been traded to the USHL's Tri-City Storm. Olsson, 18, was acquired in a midseason trade last season from the Lincoln Stars.
He finished with six goals and 13 assists in 43 games, accumulating 145 penalty minutes. Olsson, a Northeastern University commit, did not score a point in three preaseason games.
"Thank you to everyone in the Cedar Rapids organization and fans for my time here," Olsson said on Twitter. "Time to start a new chapter in tri city."
RoughRiders Coach/General Manager Mark Carlson said the trade was for future considerations. That leaves 27 players in camp, with the RoughRiders needing to get down to 23 for their first game Sept. 27 at Lincoln.
The team plays in the USHL's Fall Classic in Indianapolis this weekend.
