The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders announced Tuesday that they have hired Travis Winter to be their new assistant coach. He replaces Jeff Dwyer, who left the team last week to take a job with College Hockey Inc.
“We are very happy to add such an outstanding individual to our coaching staff. He comes very highly recommended within the hockey community,” said RoughRiders CEO Jeff Jauch.
Winter played in the USHL for the Indiana Ice (2004-05) and college hockey at Bemidji State. He has been a volunteer assistant coach for NCAA Division III Saint John's (Minn.).
"Travis understands the importance of sheer hard work and sacrifice," Riders Coach Mark Carlson said. "He brings a tremendous passion for the game of hockey and the United States Hockey League.
"He will be a tremendous asset to our players, our staff and the Cedar Rapids community. We welcome Travis to our team."
