RoughRiders lose traditional Thanksgiving Night game at Waterloo, 3-2

WATERLOO - Peter Krieger's power-play goal early in the third period proved enough for the Waterloo Black Hawks in a 3-2 win over the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in their annual Thanksgiving Night game at Young Arena.
The teams play again Saturday night at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena, with an approximate opening faceoff of 7:20 p.m. The Riders dropped to 12-5-1, 25 points. Waterloo improved to 14-5-0 for 28 points.
Andrew Poturalski of Cedar Rapids scored the game's first goal at 7:17 of the first period. Waterloo tied it with 16 seconds left in the first period, with Cedar Rapids going back ahead in the second on a Jack Rowe goal.
Waterloo tied it again midway through the second and had the only goal of the third period. The Black Hawks outshot the RoughRiders by a 41-31 margin.
Chris Birdsall took the loss in goal.
