RoughRiders' Johnson commits to Notre Dame

Cedar Rapids RoughRiders goaltender Mike Johnson has committed to play college hockey next year at Notre Dame. Johnson, 20, had a 2.39 goals against average this season and .909 save percentage. He finished second in the United States Hockey League with three shutouts, third in wins (25) and fifth in minutes played (2,264).
He was named USHL Goaltender of the Week last week after shutting out Indiana and allowing only one goal in a win over Waterloo. In his last four starts, the Verona, Wis., resident has given up just three goals.
Johnson is the 15th member of the 2008-09 RoughRiders to make a D-I college commitment. Forward Jeff Costello also is a Notre Dame commit.
