RoughRiders continue to make roster moves

Nov. 21, 2011 6:36 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS - A lot of it is necessary because of the extreme amount of injuries, but the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders continue to have roster flux.
The USHL club traded forward Jono Davis to Dubuque on Monday for a future draft pick. Davis had a goal and two assists in 13 games for the Riders, with a plus-minus rating of minus-four.
Forwards Davey Middleton and Dylan Gareau joined the team last weekend. Middleton was acquired from Tri-City, while Gareau was with New Jersey of the lower-level East Coast Junior Hockey League.
Gareau - from Richmond, Ontario - is a University of Maine commitment. Middleton broke his hand in the first period of his first game last Friday against Indiana and is expected to miss four to six weeks.
Forward Ryan McGrath and defenseman Chris Dienes have been on the 45-day Injured Reserve list with broken wrists. Forwards Thomas Forgione and Jared Linnell also have missed significant time with injuries, as has defenseman Ian Brady, though he returned to the lineup last Saturday against Youngstown.
"Never been this bad over an entire season, let alone all at one time," said Riders Coach Mark Carlson. "But that's hockey."
The RoughRiders play Wednesday night at Dubuque and Thursday night at Waterloo, hosting Waterloo on Saturday night.
