RoughRiders' Beers headed to Notre Dame

Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defenseman Jared Beers has accepted an offer to join the Notre Dame hockey program this coming season. Beers, from nearby Mishawaka, Ind., was expected to an achor on the blueline for the 2010-11 RoughRiders.
He will join RoughRiders teammate Jeff Costello at Notre Dame. Beers had four goals and 11 assists in 46 games for Cedar Rapids, missing the final month of the regular season with a broken thumb.
The 2010 USHL Futures Draft is Tuesday and the Entry Draft the following day. The league's expansion draft is Monday, with newcomers Dubuque and Muskegon getting the chance to select players from existing clubs.
Existing teams can protect eight players and lose only one.
If you didn't see it, the Green Bay Gamblers won the Clark Cup title Wednesday night with a 5-3 win over Fargo in the deciding Game 5. Green Bay lost the first two games of the series at home but won two games in Fargo, including one in triple-overtime.
The deciding game was in Green Bay.
