RoughRiders beat Green Bay in a shootout

Feb. 8, 2014 9:05 pm
GREEN BAY, Wis. - Another shootout but a different result this time.
Alec Marsh and Andrew Poturalski scored, as the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders beat the Green Bay Gamblers, 2-1, on Saturday night.
Goaltender Danny Tirone stopped two of the three attempts he faced as the Riders improved to 24-14-2, 50 points. Cedar Rapids lost Friday night in a shootout to Indiana.
Mitch Maloney scored 7:46 into the game, with Carlos Fornaris picking up the assist. But Matthew Weis picked up a power-play goal a little less than five minutes later to tie it for Green Bay.
That's the way the game stayed through regulation and the five-minute overtime. The RoughRiders limited Green Bay to just 19 shots on goal.
They play Sunday afternoon at Chicago.
