Riders’ Zajac commits to Denver

May. 29, 2011 3:06 pm
Finally some good news for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders when it comes to one of their defensemen.
Nolan Zajac has committed to play college hockey in the 2012-13 season for the University of Denver. He'll join former RoughRiders Josiah Didier and Paul Phillips on the blueline.
Zajac, 18, had three goals and 27 assists in 45 games this season for Cedar Rapids. He missed a month with mononucleosis.
He is expected to play his third season with the Riders in 2011-12. Cedar Rapids unexpectedly lost Didier a couple of weeks ago a year earlier than anticipated to Denver.
Anthony DeAngelo decided last week to leave the club and play Major Junior hockey in Canada.
