Riders outscore Fargo, 9-6

Feb. 12, 2010 11:44 pm
Jeff Costello cinched a hat trick with a late empty net goal that cemented the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders a 9-6 USHL win at Fargo no Friday night.
Costello had the Riders' first goal of the game in the mid period. He scored twice in the third period, including his empty netter with 2:16 to go.
Zach Lehrke added two power-play goals for Cedar Rapids, with Michael Parks, Stu Wilson, Cason Hohmann and Jordan DiGiando also denting the net. Parks and DiGiando scored short-handed. It was Wilson's first goal of the season.
All this support helped give netminder
Troy Grosenick the victory. Cedar Rapids is 25-15-3 for 53 points, picking up at least one standings point in nine straight games. The Riders play again Saturday night at Fargo.
